“Veil of Mortality, the Lament of the Infinite” Oil on Canvas, 2024
In Veil of Mortality, the Lament of the Infinite, a fragment of a face emerges from a stark black canvas, framed by expressive, white lines. These lines etch across the canvas with purpose to give strucure beneath skin, as if hinting at the fine line between life and mortality. The face, only partially visible, seems both ghostly and eternal—a glimpse of something both fleeting and infinite.
This work, the namesake of the Veil of Mortality, the Lament of the Infinite collection, serves as a meditation on the limits of human perception and the eternal unknown that lies just beyond it. The black canvas is a void, and within it, the face appears as both a symbol of identity and the soul’s longing to transcend earthly constraints. “Veil of Mortality, the Lament of the Infinite” invites viewers into a space where life, death, and eternity converge, sparking reflection on the infinite mystery that lies behind the veil.
